Boston, MA – The Boston Fleet has secured its first-round selection from the 2025 draft, defender Haley Winn, by signing her to a three-year Standard Player Agreement that runs through the 2027-28 PWHL season. The deal was announced today at a press conference held at the Boston Sports Institute.

General Manager Danielle Marmer praised Winn’s all-around game, saying, “Haley is a complete two-way defender. She skates the puck, competes at a high level, and brings strong hockey IQ. Whether we need shutdown defense, a power-play quarterback, or someone who can produce offensively, she fits every role.”

A native of Rochester, New York, Winn was selected second overall by Boston in the June 24 PWHL Draft in Ottawa. During her four seasons at Clarkson University, she amassed 131 points (37 goals, 94 assists) in 151 games. In 2024-25 she earned ECAC Player of the Year and Defender of the Year honors, was named a First-Team All-American, and finished as a Patty Kazmaier Award finalist. Her 46 points (14G, 32A) led all Division I defensemen.

On the international stage, Winn has represented the United States in three IIHF Women’s World Championships—winning gold in 2023 and 2025, and silver in 2024—and twice at the Under-18 level, where she captured gold in 2020 and silver in 2019.

“I’m thrilled to officially join the Fleet,” Winn said. “Boston, the organization, and my new teammates have welcomed me warmly. I can’t wait to get on the ice and help bring a Walter Cup to this city.”

Winn is the second member of Boston’s 2025 draft class to ink a contract, following second-round pick Ella Huber. She joins a roster that already includes 20 signed players for 2025-26, among them defenders Zoe Boyd, Hadley Hartmetz, Megan Keller, Rylind MacKinnon, and Daniela Pejšová. With recent extensions for Keller, goaltender Aerin Frankel, and forward Alina Müller, Winn becomes the fourth Fleet player under contract through 2027-28.
