ARLINGTON, TX – The Dallas Wings have announced a trade sending guard DiJonai Carrington to the Minnesota Lynx. In return, Dallas receives forward Diamond Miller, guard Karlie Samuelson, and Minnesota’s 2027 second-round draft pick. To finalize the transaction, the Wings have also waived center Teaira McCowan.
Incoming Talent: Diamond Miller & Karlie Samuelson
Diamond Miller, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, joins Dallas after two seasons with Minnesota. A 6’3″ forward, Miller earned WNBA All-Rookie Team honors in 2023, ranking:
- 2nd in rookie scoring: 12.1 PPG
- 5th in rebounding: 3.5 RPG
- 2nd in assists: 2.5 APG
In 2025, Miller leads all forwards in three-point shooting at an impressive 53.8%, appearing in 25 games and averaging 4.1 points on 47.6% overall shooting.
A standout at the University of Maryland, Miller was a 2023 WBCA All-American and a three-time All-Big Ten selection, averaging 19.7 points and 6.4 rebounds her senior year—marking the highest scoring average by a Terrapin since 2017.
Karlie Samuelson, a seasoned 7-year veteran, arrives in Dallas after a brief stint with Minnesota. Limited to 16 games in 2025 due to injury and surgery, the Stanford alum has played 121 career games, averaging:
- 5.3 points, 2.0 rebounds
- 41.1% FG, 39.2% from three
Samuelson was acquired by Minnesota in April 2025 via trade from the Washington Mystics.
Departing Players: Carrington & McCowan
DiJonai Carrington, acquired by Dallas in a four-team trade earlier this year, made 13 starts in 20 games during the 2025 season. She averaged:
- 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game
Carrington brings energy and versatility to Minnesota’s backcourt rotation.
Teaira McCowan, the 6’7″ center out of Mississippi State, was waived to complete the trade. Acquired by Dallas in 2022 from Indiana, McCowan has been a consistent force in the paint:
- Averaged double-digit scoring and 7+ rebounds in six of her first seven seasons
- Ranked top 13 in rebounding and top 8 in FG% each season through 2024
In 2025, she appeared in 17 games, averaging 5.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and shooting 53.7% from the field. Her .570 FG% in a Wings uniform is a franchise record, and she ranks:
- 6th in franchise rebounds: 896
- 7th in franchise blocks: 103
