Boston, MA – The Boston Fleet announced today the re-signing of forward Shay Maloney to a two-year Standard Player Agreement, securing her through the 2026–27 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season.

A native of McHenry, Illinois, Maloney was originally selected 34th overall (6th round) in the 2024 PWHL Draft. During her rookie campaign, the 25-year-old played in all 30 regular-season games, contributing 3 goals and 6 assists for 9 points, placing her in a tie for ninth among all first-year players league-wide.

“We’re thrilled Shay is staying in Boston,” said Fleet General Manager Danielle Marmer. “She plays a physical, fearless style and is always willing to go to the hard areas of the ice. Her attention to detail, team-first mentality, and toughness perfectly reflect our identity as a club. Shay embodies what it means to be a Boston Fleet player.”

Prior to turning professional, Maloney skated in four NCAA seasons with Brown University (2018–22) before spending her graduate year at Quinnipiac University (2022–23), where she posted 15 goals and 16 assists in 40 games. She then debuted overseas in the Swedish Women’s Hockey League (SDHL) with Leksands IF, recording 10 goals and 11 assists across 39 games before returning stateside to join the Fleet.

“I’m beyond excited to be back with the Fleet,” said Maloney. “Boston felt like home from day one, and I can’t wait to hit the ice with my teammates again this fall.”

Maloney returns as part of a deep Fleet forward group that includes Chloé Aurard, Hannah Brandt, Laura Kluge, Alina Müller, Jamie Lee Rattray, Jill Saulnier, Theresa Schafzahl, Liz Schepers, Sophie Shirley, and Susanna Tapani—all under contract for the 2025–26 PWHL season.
