SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin announced today that the club has acquired veteran right wing Vladimir Tarasenko from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for future considerations.
Tarasenko, 33 (born December 13, 1991), appeared in 80 games for Detroit during the 2024–25 season, recording 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists), six penalty minutes, and 133 shots on goal. The 6-foot-1, 218-pound winger from Yaroslavl, Russia, brings elite scoring pedigree and championship experience to the Wild’s forward group.
Over the course of his 13-season NHL career, Tarasenko has amassed 662 points (304 goals, 358 assists), 70 power-play goals, 51 game-winning goals, and 2,412 shots in 831 games with the St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers, and Detroit Red Wings. He has also been a force in the postseason, tallying 73 points (49 goals, 24 assists) in 121 Stanley Cup Playoff games, and is a two-time Stanley Cup Champion—with St. Louis in 2019 and Florida in 2024.
A four-time NHL All-Star (2015, 2016, 2017, 2023), Tarasenko has reached the 30-goal plateau six times, including a career-best 40 goals in 2015–16, and has surpassed 70 points in four seasons, highlighted by a career-high 82 points (34 goals, 48 assists) in 2021–22. He was named to the NHL Second All-Star Team in both 2014–15 and 2015–16 and was a Lady Byng Trophy finalist in 2016–17.
During his 11-year tenure with the St. Louis Blues, Tarasenko became one of the franchise’s all-time greats, ranking:

- 7th in assists (291)
- 5th in points (553)
Internationally, Tarasenko has represented Russia at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and at three IIHF World Championships (2011, 2015, 2021).
He was originally selected by the Blues in the first round (16th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
