NEW YORK – New York City FC has signed goalkeeper Mac Learned, midfielder Peter Molinari, and forward Seymour Reid to Short-Term Agreements from MLS NEXT Pro affiliate NYCFC II in advance of the club’s 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 match against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
The trio traveled with the first team to Pittsburgh, where they are available for selection tonight as the Boys in Blue return to the national tournament. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET and the match will be streamed live on Paramount+ and CBS Sports Network.

Player Profiles
Mac Learned
- Signed with NYCFC II ahead of the 2025 season after participating in first-team preseason.
- Has made six appearances with one clean sheet this year in MLS NEXT Pro.
Peter Molinari
- Signs his fourth and final Short-Term Agreement of the season (maximum allowed for league play).
- Has made seven starts with NYCFC II and is slated to join the first team as a Homegrown Player in 2027.
Seymour Reid
- Made history earlier this season as NYCFC’s youngest-ever first-team debutant, subbing on against the Columbus Crew in March.
- Has scored four goals in nine appearances for NYCFC II in 2025.
- Set to join the first team as a Homegrown Player in 2026.
MLS Short-Term Agreement Rules
MLS permits clubs to sign players aged 25 or younger from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate to up to four Short-Term Agreements per season. Players may be listed on up to four MLS matchday rosters and may participate in non-league competitions, such as the U.S. Open Cup, without limit.
U.S. Open Cup History
NYCFC returns to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after its affiliate, NYCFC II, made history last year by becoming the first reserve team to reach the Round of 16. Since debuting in 2015, NYCFC’s deepest tournament runs have come in 2019 and 2022, when the team reached the Quarterfinals.
