CALGARY – The Calgary Stampeders announced Wednesday that receiver Reggie Begelton has been placed on the six-game injury list due to a knee injury sustained in the team’s Week 2 victory over the Toronto Argonauts. So far in the 2025 season, Begelton has recorded six catches for 65 yards.

The team also strengthened its roster by adding American offensive lineman William Barnes and American linebacker Morice Blackwell Jr. to the practice squad.

Barnes, who originally signed with the Stampeders in January, attended last month’s training camp and saw action in both pre-season games. He previously had NFL auditions with the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants and also played for the DC Defenders of the United Football League.

A North Carolina alum, Barnes appeared in 59 games over six seasons, making 21 career starts. In his senior season with the Tar Heels, he started eight of 12 games, helping the offensive line lead the ACC with 299.2 passing yards per game while paving the way for running back Omarion Hampton’s 1,504-yard rushing campaign. Throughout his collegiate career, Barnes showcased versatility, starting at left tackle, right tackle, left guard, and right guard.

Blackwell, a University of Texas product, recently participated in NFL mini-camps with the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers. Over four seasons with the Longhorns, he played 48 games, making four starts as both a linebacker and defensive back. His college career included 64 tackles, four tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, and one blocked punt.
