Statewide Gaming Activity Generates Over $85 Million
RICHMOND, VA – The Virginia Lottery has released its May 2025 casino activity report, detailing gaming revenue and tax contributions from the state’s three operating casinos: Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, and Caesars Virginia.

- Total gaming revenue from Virginia casinos reached $85.4 million in May.
- The state’s graduated tax system on Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) resulted in $15.4 million in tax payments to the Gaming Proceeds Fund.
- Tax distributions are allocated to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund, the Family and Children’s Trust Fund, and the host cities where casinos operate.
For Hard Rock Bristol, a portion of the tax revenue designated for the host city is directed to the Regional Improvement Commission as outlined by state statute.
