LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired right-handed reliever Alexis Díaz from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for minor league pitcher Mike Villani. To accommodate the move, the Dodgers have transferred right-hander Evan Phillips to the 60-day injured list.

Alexis Díaz: Season Overview & Career Stats

Díaz, 28, struggled in limited action this season, posting a 12.00 ERA over six appearances for Cincinnati. However, the former National League All-Star (2023) has a strong track record, including:

  • 2023 Season: 9-6 record, 3.07 ERA, 37 saves, and career-high 71 games.
  • Career Numbers: 75-for-86 in save opportunities, 3.21 ERA in 196 games, with 227 strikeouts across 193.1 innings.
  • Opponents’ Batting Average: .180 across four seasons.

Originally drafted in the 12th round of the 2015 MLB Draft by Cincinnati, Díaz has been a reliable bullpen presence since making his MLB debut.

Mike Villani: Prospective Talent

Villani, 22, has appeared in two games for the ACL Dodgers, striking out five batters in two innings. Selected in the 13th round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Long Beach State University, he now joins Cincinnati’s farm system as a promising pitching prospect.

With Díaz now in Dodgers blue, Los Angeles strengthens its bullpen depth, aiming to solidify late-game relief options moving forward.
