The Virginia Lottery has published its latest report on casino gaming activity for April 2025, highlighting revenue and tax distributions across the state’s three active casinos:
- Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol
- Rivers Casino Portsmouth
- Caesars Virginia
Gaming Revenue and Tax Contributions
In April, Virginia’s casinos generated $78.8 million in gaming revenue. Under state law, casino Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR)—wagers minus winnings—is subject to a graduated tax, resulting in a $14.2 million contribution to the Gaming Proceeds Fund.
Tax Distribution Breakdown
Virginia law specifies that taxes collected on AGR are allocated to several key programs, including:
- Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund
- Family and Children’s Trust Fund
- Host city allocations
Additionally, for Bristol Casino, a portion of tax revenue designated for the host city is directed to the Regional Improvement Commission, per legislative guidelines.
