Arlington, TX – Ahead of Monday night’s series opener against the Colorado Rockies at Globe Life Field, the Texas Rangers announced the following roster moves:
- Infielder Jake Burger recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
- Infielder Blaine Crim optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Burger’s Recent Performance
The 29-year-old infielder returns to the Rangers after an impressive stretch in Triple-A, where he hit .391/.462/.696 (9-for-23) with two home runs, six RBIs, and a double in just six games since his May 2 option. Defensively, Burger made four starts at first base and two as a designated hitter. He showed consistency at the plate, recording multiple hits in four of his last five games, including back-to-back home runs over the weekend in El Paso.
Burger now begins his second stint with Texas this season, having previously logged 30 games from Opening Day through May 1, with three home runs and 12 RBIs, while making 29 starts at first base.
Burger’s Career Background
A five-year MLB veteran, Burger was acquired by the Rangers from the Miami Marlins on December 11, 2024, in exchange for Echedry Vargas, Max Acosta, and Brayan Mendoza. The St. Louis native holds a career .246 batting average (328-for-1,333) with 75 home runs and 197 RBIs across 374 games, previously playing for Chicago-AL (2021-23), Miami (2023-24), and Texas (2025). Throughout his career, Burger has been primarily used as a corner infielder, with starts at third base (201), first base (81), designated hitter (64), and second base (4).
Crim’s Major League Stint
Crim, 27, appeared in five games for Texas since his May 2 call-up from Round Rock. The infielder went 0-for-11, drawing one walk and one hit by pitch, while scoring one run. He made his MLB debut on May 2 against Seattle, starting three games at first base, with appearances as a reserve in two additional contests.
Roster Update
Following these moves, the Rangers maintain a full 40-man roster, with Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, and Josh Sborz remaining on the 60-day Injured List.
