The Cleveland Guardians have announced the acquisition of right-handed pitcher Matt Festa from the Texas Rangers in exchange for cash considerations. Festa has been assigned to Triple-A Columbus and is not currently on the Guardians’ 40-man roster.

Matt Festa

Festa, 32, brings experience from a five-year Major League career, having appeared in 108 games with the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, and New York Mets. After splitting the 2024 season between the Mets and Rangers, he spent the offseason with the Chicago Cubs before re-signing with Texas in February 2025.

This season, Festa has excelled at Triple-A Round Rock, delivering 14.2 scoreless innings across nine relief appearances. The Staten Island, NY native has a career record of 8-3 with a 4.60 ERA in the Majors.

Slade Cecconi

Additionally, right-handed pitcher Slade Cecconi, recovering from a left oblique strain, will begin a rehab assignment tonight at Triple-A Columbus, where he is scheduled to start. Cecconi was acquired in an offseason trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks that sent Josh Naylor to Arizona.

These moves reflect the Guardians’ efforts to strengthen their pitching depth as they navigate the 2025 season.
