The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued cease-and-desist orders to the Panama-based operators of SportsBetting.ag and BetOnline.ag, citing violations of state laws governing legal gambling. These operators have been found to be in breach of Michigan’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act, Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and Michigan Penal Code.

The MGCB’s actions were prompted by investigations following an anonymous tip. SportsBetting.ag has been illegally offering a range of gambling options, including sports betting, horse racing, table games, card games, virtual casino games, and even wagering on politics. Additionally, the site has been promoting cash-back incentives for casino losses. Meanwhile, BetOnline.ag has facilitated unlawful betting on sports, live events, esports, and casino-style games (such as slots, poker, and blackjack), as well as horse racing and contest tournaments. Both platforms allow funding through credit cards, wire transfers, and cryptocurrencies, enabling real-money wagers.

Neither SportsBetting.ag nor BetOnline.ag possesses the necessary licensing to operate legally within Michigan.

“The Michigan Gaming Control Board is committed to enforcing Michigan’s gaming laws and protecting consumers from illegal gambling,” said Henry Williams, MGCB Executive Director. “We urge residents to engage only with licensed and regulated online platforms to ensure safe and fair gaming experiences.”

The operators of both platforms have been given a 14-day deadline to cease all operations within Michigan. Failure to comply will result in further legal action, undertaken in collaboration with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.
