West Sacramento, CA – The Oakland Athletics announced today that right-handed pitcher J.T. Ginn has been placed on the 15-day Injured List (retroactive to April 25) due to right elbow inflammation. To fill the roster spot, the team has recalled left-handed pitcher Jacob Lopez from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Ginn, 25, was recalled by the Athletics on April 12 and has made three starts, posting a 1-1 record with a 4.61 ERA across 13.2 innings pitched. While he allowed just one run over 5.1 innings in his debut start to earn the win, Ginn struggled in his subsequent outings, surrendering six runs across 8.1 innings. Ginn began the season at Las Vegas, where he impressed with a 1-0 record and a 1.64 ERA in two starts for the Aviators.

Lopez, 27, rejoins the A’s for his second stint this season. After being recalled for the first time on April 18, Lopez appeared in three games, pitching 4.1 innings while allowing two unearned runs, walking three, and striking out five batters. He was optioned back to Las Vegas on Wednesday but did not make another appearance with the Aviators. Earlier this year, Lopez began the season with a 2-0 record and a 2.45 ERA across three games (two starts) in Triple-A.

These moves position the Athletics to continue their campaign as they prepare for the next stretch of games.
