A Rising Homegrown Talent

Yañez joined the NYCFC Academy in 2021 and became the club’s 13th Homegrown signing at the end of 2023, making history as the first center forward to sign a First Team Homegrown contract.

The Chilean youth international was invited to preseason training with the First Team in January and has already made an impact, playing all 90 minutes in his lone appearance for New York City FC II this season.

International Experience & Recent Success

Yañez recently competed in the 2025 South American U-17 Championship, where he started all six matches and scored a goal, helping Chile finish fourth and secure qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025.

MLS Short-Term Agreement Rules

Under MLS regulations, clubs can sign players age 25 or younger from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate to a maximum of four Short-Term Agreements per season. Players can be included in up to four MLS match rosters but may appear in no more than two league matches. However, they can participate in any number of non-league games during their short-term deals.

Availability for Upcoming Match

Yañez has traveled with the team to New England and will be available for selection ahead of tonight’s match.
