Hendriks, 36, returns to the mound after last pitching in the majors on June 9, 2023, for the White Sox. He underwent Tommy John surgery on August 2, 2023, following his inspiring comeback from Stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which earned him the 2023 American League Comeback Player of the Year honor. A three-time All-Star (2019, 2021-22) and two-time Mariano Rivera AL Reliever of the Year (2020-21), Hendriks has made his mark across multiple franchises, including Minnesota, Kansas City, Toronto, Oakland, and Chicago. The Australian native owns a career 3.82 ERA (276 ER/650.0 IP) with 116 saves and 727 strikeouts over 476 games (44 starts). He recently completed a rehab assignment with Worcester and Double-A Portland, recording five strikeouts in three scoreless innings.

Dobbins, 25, earned the win against the White Sox last night, allowing two runs (one earned) over six innings with six strikeouts. The Texas native has made two Major League starts this season, posting a 3.0 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 11 innings. Drafted by Boston in the eighth round of the 2021 MLB Draft, Dobbins also appeared in two games for Worcester earlier this season, pitching 6.2 innings with four strikeouts and eight runs allowed.

With Hendriks back in the bullpen, the Red Sox adjust their roster as they continue their season.
