LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Matt Sauer and placed left-handed pitcher Blake Snell on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation, retroactive to April 3.

Sauer, 26, was on the Tokyo Series roster but did not appear in a game. The non-roster invitee made four appearances in Spring Training, striking out eight batters in 7.2 innings. He made one start for Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing one run in 3.0 innings. Last season, he made his Major League debut in 2024 as a member of the Kansas City Royals and went 0-0 with a 7.71 ERA in 14 games. In seven minor league seasons, he is 22-27 with a 4.36 ERA and 451 strikeouts. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the second round of the 2017 First Year Player Draft out Ernest Righetti High School (Santa Maria, Calif.).

Snell, 32, has made two starts for the Dodgers this season, and he is 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA. The southpaw went 5-3 with a 3.12 ERA in 20 starts last season with the San Francisco Giants. The Seattle native began his career with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2016, making 108 starts over five seasons with a 42-30 record and a 3.24 ERA. In 10 Major League seasons, he is 77-58 with a 3.18 ERA and 1,372 strikeouts in 1,105.2 innings. The two-time Cy Young award winner signed a five-year contract with the Dodgers on November 30, 2024.
