McCaughan (pronounced mah-CACK-en), 29, split the 2024 season between Triple-A Columbus, Triple-A Jacksonville, the Cleveland Guardians and the Miami Marlins, combining to go 5-4 with a 5.22 ERA (127.2 IP, 74 ER), 45 walks and 120 strikeouts in 29 games (22 starts). The Long Beach, California native was signed by the Twins to a minor league contract over the offseason and pitched in three games for Minnesota in spring training. He will be in uniform for this afternoon’s game in Chicago against the White Sox and wear uniform number 51.

To make room on both the 26-man and 40-man rosters, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Randy Dobnak for release or assignment. Dobnak appeared in relief yesterday afternoon in St. Louis, allowing one run on two hits (1 home run) in 5.1 innings pitched, with two walks and one strikeout.
