Chicago White Sox complete eight roster transactions

CHICAGO – Prior to today’s workout, the Chicago White Sox made the following eight roster moves:

  • Claimed off Waivers from Colorado and Optioned to Class AAA Charlotte (1): INF/OF Greg Jones;
  • Optioned to Charlotte (1): RHP Justin Anderson;
  • Reassigned to Minor League Camp (5): INFs Bobby Dalbec, Tristan Gray and Chase Meidroth and RHPs James Karinchak and Steven Wilson;
  • Designated for Assignment (1): OF Oscar Colás.

Jones, 27, spent most of the 2024 season with Class AAA Albuquerque in the Colorado organization, batting .269/.346/.460 (97-361) with 17 doubles, 16 home runs, 42 RBI, 78 runs scored and 46 stolen bases in 86 games. He appeared in 62 games in center field, 14 at shortstop and eight at second base with the Isotopes.

Jones, 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, also made his major-league debut with the Rockies, going 1-5 with a home run, RBI and run scored in five games between June 6-17.

Jones is a career .266/.347/.442 (374-1,405) hitter with 49 homers, 182 RBI, 272 runs scored and 160 steals over five minor-league seasons. He originally was selected by Tampa Bay in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

With the moves, the White Sox have 31 players remaining in camp: 15 pitchers, two catchers, eight infielders and six outfielders. The Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
