TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced the recall of goaltender Matt Tomkins from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL), as confirmed by vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois.

Tomkins, 30, has played 22 games for the Crunch this season, achieving a 9-9-4 record along with a .911 save percentage, a 2.54 goals-against average, and three shutouts. Over his AHL career, he has appeared in 87 games with Syracuse and the Rockford IceHogs, posting a 35-41-10 record, a .902 save percentage, a 2.87 goals-against average, and four shutouts.

The Edmonton, Alberta native has also played six NHL games, all with Tampa Bay during the 2023-24 season, recording a 3-2-1 record, an .892 save percentage, and a 3.33 goals-against average. Notably, Tomkins earned his first NHL win on November 7, 2023, with a 23-save effort against Montreal.

Originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh round (199th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft, Tomkins joined the Lightning as a free agent on May 10, 2023.
