SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin announced today that the team has acquired forward Gustav Nyquist (pronounced GOO-stahv NIGH-kwihst) from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. As part of the agreement, Nashville will retain 50% of Nyquist’s contract.

Nyquist, 35, has recorded 21 points (9 goals, 12 assists) and 71 shots on goal in 57 games for Nashville this season. This move marks Nyquist’s second stint with Minnesota, having been traded to the Wild on February 28, 2023, by the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a fifth-round selection in the 2023 NHL Draft (used to select goaltender Melvin Strahl). During his previous time with the Wild, Nyquist contributed five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in three regular-season games and added five assists in six Stanley Cup Playoff appearances in the 2022-23 season.
Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 180 pounds, the Halmstad, Sweden native has built an impressive NHL career spanning 13 seasons (2011-2025) with teams including the Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, and Nashville Predators. Over 841 career NHL games, Nyquist has amassed 524 points (207 goals, 317 assists), along with 47 power-play goals, 29 game-winning goals, 9 shorthanded goals, and 1,755 shots on goal. In the playoffs, he has added 30 points (6 goals, 24 assists) in 77 games.
Internationally, Nyquist has represented Sweden in five major tournaments, including the 2014 Winter Olympics and the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. Originally selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the fourth round (121st overall) of the 2008 NHL Draft, Nyquist will wear No. 14 for the Minnesota Wild.
