BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox have announced the addition of outfielder Trayce Thompson to their 2025 Spring Training roster as a non-roster invitee. He will be wearing number 37.

Trayce Thompson, 33, played in 107 Triple-A games during the 2024 season, splitting time between Syracuse (62 games) and Iowa (45 games). He made 55 starts in center field, 31 in right field, 13 in left field, and seven as the designated hitter. The right-handed hitter batted .233 (88-for-378) with a .786 OPS, scoring 58 runs, hitting 19 doubles, 23 home runs, and driving in 66 RBI. Originally selected by the Chicago White Sox in the second round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, the California native has a career batting average of .212 (198-for-935) in 369 Major League games. He has played for the White Sox (2015, 2018, 2023), Los Angeles Dodgers (2016-17, 2022-23), Oakland Athletics (2018), Chicago Cubs (2021), and San Diego Padres (2022).

Thompson comes from a family of athletes. His brother, Klay, has played 12 seasons in the NBA and won four NBA Championships. His other brother, Mychel, played one season in the NBA. Their father, Mychal, had a 12-year NBA career and won two NBA Championships.
