WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to a one-year contract with veteran American linebacker Jonathan Jones.

Jones, standing at 5-11 and weighing 230 pounds, was born on November 18, 1997, in Ocoee, Florida. He spent the last three years with the Toronto Argonauts before his release on January 16, 2025.

Last season, Jones played in 12 games for the Argonauts, starting in six. He recorded 29 tackles, eight special teams tackles, and one forced fumble. He missed the final five regular season games and the playoffs due to a hamstring injury.

During his tenure with Toronto, Jones started games at both middle and weak-side linebacker. Over three seasons, he appeared in 36 games, amassing 88 defensive tackles, 26 special teams tackles, eight sacks, three interceptions, and one forced fumble.

Jones played his college football at Notre Dame and Toledo. While at Toledo, he was named to the second-team All-MAC in 2021.
