The Milwaukee Bucks are on the hunt for a successful finish to their midseason road trip against Western Conference teams as they square off against the struggling San Antonio Spurs on Friday night in the Alamo City.
The Bucks head into San Antonio for the finale of a four-game road trip that has produced mixed results, including a 125-112 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. Despite the loss, Giannis Antetokounmpo put up an impressive performance with 39 points on 17-of-24 shooting, along with 12 rebounds and five assists. Damian Lillard contributed 20 points in his return to Rip City, while Brook Lopez and Gary Trent Jr. added 11 points each. This was just the Bucks’ third loss in their past 12 games.
Following Friday’s game, the Bucks will return home to face Memphis before hitting the road again for games against Oklahoma City, Charlotte, and Atlanta.
Milwaukee won the first meeting with the Spurs this season, defeating San Antonio 121-105 in Milwaukee on January 8.
The Spurs, meanwhile, are looking to break a five-game home losing streak after a 128-116 setback against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. San Antonio led by a point after a Victor Wembanyama 3-pointer with 5:38 to play, but the Clippers closed out the game by scoring 15 of the next 17 points.
Wembanyama led the Spurs with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Stephon Castle added 20 points. Devin Vassell contributed 19 points, and Harrison Barnes chipped in 15. San Antonio has lost five of its past six games and has fallen to a season-low four games under .500.
On Thursday, Wembanyama was named a Western Conference reserve for the All-Star Game.
Friday’s contest is the second of a three-game homestand for the Spurs, which concludes on Saturday when they host Miami. After that, San Antonio will not see its home court until March 2, with 10 of its next 12 games on the road and two others in Austin, Texas, the Spurs’ home away from home.
