Seattle Reign FC Signs UNC Forward Maddie Dahlien

SEATTLE, WA – In a significant move, Seattle Reign FC has announced the signing of forward Maddie Dahlien from the University of North Carolina (UNC) to a three-year contract extending through the 2027 NWSL season. This signing adds to the excitement as Dahlien was also selected for the 2025 USWNT Futures Camp following her triumphant 2024 NCAA Division I National Championship season.

Maddie Dahlien’s Impressive Track Record

Dahlien, now 20, spent three remarkable years at UNC, scoring seven goals and providing 13 assists in 65 matches. Her leadership on the field was evident this past season as she led UNC with seven assists, playing a crucial role in helping the Tar Heels clinch the national championship in 2024.

Throughout her collegiate career, Dahlien garnered numerous accolades, including selections to the All-ACC Third Team (2024), ACC All-Tournament Team (2024), ACC All-Freshman Team (2022), and ACC All-Academic Team (2022, 2023).

Joining Seattle Reign FC

International Success

On the international stage, Dahlien’s prowess has been equally impressive. She was recently named to the 2025 USWNT Futures Camp, demonstrating her continued rise in the national team setup. She earned a bronze medal with the U.S. U-20 Women’s Youth National Team at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, alongside Reign teammates Emeri Adames and Jordyn Bugg. Dahlien played in all seven matches, scoring two goals and forcing the game-winning own goal against the Netherlands during the bronze medal match.

In 2023, Dahlien helped the U.S. U-20 Women’s Youth National Team qualify for the 2024 U-20 World Cup during the U-20 Concacaf Championships. She made a memorable debut, recording a hat trick in her first international match.

Early Achievements

Before her collegiate and international successes, Dahlien was a standout at high school level, being named the 2021-22 Minneapolis Star Tribune Female Athlete of the Year. She was also recognized as the 2021 Minneapolis Star Tribune Girls’ Soccer Metro Player of the Year, voted Minnesota Ms. Soccer, and made the United Soccer Coaches All-America Team and all-state first team three times. Dahlien concluded her prep career with an impressive 92 goals and 43 assists.
