MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes have announced a key player retention, signing Canadian defensive end Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund to a one-year extension that keeps him with the team through 2026.

“Isaac quickly integrated into our defensive core, and his way of playing greatly helped our team,” said Montreal Alouettes General Manager Danny Maciocia. “As the season progressed, he became more comfortable. He finished the season strong, and we are excited that he is extending his stay with us. He is an important piece for our team.”

Adeyemi-Berglund (6-foot-2, 248 pounds) was named the Most Outstanding Canadian in the East division in his first season with the Alouettes in 2024. He also earned a spot on the East Division All-CFL team.

The 28-year-old played 17 regular season games, recording 36 defensive tackles and five on special teams. He led the team with seven sacks and forced one fumble, while also leading the CFL with nine tackles for loss.

Originally selected as the third overall pick in the 2020 CFL Draft by Calgary, Adeyemi-Berglund played his first three seasons there before joining Montreal as a free agent last February. He is an alum of Southeastern Louisiana University.
