The Magic and the Hornets, set to clash on Monday night in Charlotte, have both posted impressive numbers recently. However, it’s only Orlando that has seen these figures translate into multiple wins.
The Hornets are still searching for more success despite strong individual performances.
Charlotte guard LaMelo Ball scored 50 points in Saturday’s 125-119 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, marking the Hornets’ third loss in their last four games, with the lone win coming in overtime against the Detroit Pistons on Thursday.
On the other hand, the Magic are one of the league’s hottest teams, having won eight of their last nine games. This includes a 114-99 victory over the visiting Hornets on November 12.
Franz Wagner led the Magic with 30 points in a 111-100 win over Detroit on Saturday. He was the only Orlando starter to score in double figures, while Moritz Wagner contributed 18 points off the bench, with three reserves scoring 10 or more points.
Moritz Wagner has been notably valuable to the Magic. Franz Wagner scored 32 points in the first meeting with Charlotte this season.
For the Hornets, both Ball and Miller hit six 3-pointers in the game against Milwaukee. Ball, who also recorded 10 assists, took 38 of Charlotte’s 100 shots, while Miller grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Hornets, who will begin a five-game homestand on Monday, have won their last four home games. However, they may be without forward Grant Williams, who is likely to miss Monday’s matchup due to injury.
The Magic could see the return of Wendell Carter Jr., who participated in another workout on Saturday.
