SOUTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY QUALIFIES FOR THE 2024 CRICKET CELEBRATION BOWL FOR THE SECOND TIME

The 2024 Cricket Celebration Bowl – to be played Saturday, Dec. 14, at noon ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and broadcast live on ABC – has identified its first participants Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) college football champion South Carolina State Bulldogs, (8-3, 4-0 MEAC) defeated rival Morgan State University 54-7 on Saturday to earn their second invitation to the bowl in program history. They will play the champion of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).

MEAC TIEBREAKER SCENARIOS WEEK 12

The South Carolina State Bulldogs are in the driver’s seat of their own destiny this week with the MEAC Champions title within reach. With a win against Morgan State on Saturday, Nov. 16, SC State would earn the MEAC Championship Title and the conference’s berth in the Cricket celebration Bowl in Atlanta, GA on December 14.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

North Carolina Central running back J’Mari Taylor was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Howard’s defensive back Robert Jones III earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Delaware State’s defensive back Dwayne Carter was named Rookie of the Week. N.C. Central’s AC McMoore and S.C. State’s Kyle Gallegos earned Offensive Lineman and Specialist of the Week honors, respectively.

Taylor (RB, 5-11, 200, r-Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) amassed 206 rushing yards with three total touchdowns in N.C. Central’s 26-3 win over Howard. He also recorded six catches for 78 yards.

Jones III (DB, 6-1, 188, Sr. Fairwood, Md.) secured one interception and six solo tackles against North Carolina Central.

Carter (DB, 5-11, 185, Fr., Atlantic City, N.J.) registered two pass breakups with two tackles in the game against Norfolk State.

McMoore (OL, 6-1, 305, So., Rock Hill, S.C.) recorded a 92 percent grade on his assignments with two pancake blocks leading the Eagles to 563 yards of total offense.

Gallegos (PK, 5-9, 150, Fr., Forth Worth, Texas) collected 555 yards on nine kickoffs (61.7 avg.) with six touchbacks. He went six-of-seven on PAT kicks to aid the Bulldogs’ 54-7 victory over the Bears.

  • Jaden Sutton (Delaware State) ran for 154 yards on 23 carries with one touchdown against Norfolk State.
  • Barry Wagner Jr. (Delaware State) registered eight solo tackles against Norfolk State.
  • Antonio Williams (Delaware State) recorded four pancake blocks earning a 90 percent grade against Norfolk State.
  • Nate Wilson (Delaware State) went 2-for-2 on PAT attempts while collecting 127 yards on three punts (42.3 avg.) and 235 yards on five kickoffs against the Spartans.
  • Jalen Daniels (Norfolk State) completed 13 of 21 passes for 155 yards with two touchdowns while adding seven runs for 11 yards and one TD.
  • Terique Miles (Norfolk State) totaled three solo tackles with one sack of six yards and a forced fumble in a 38-19 win over Delaware State.
  • Vincent Byrd Jr. (Norfolk State) recorded a 92 percent grade on his assignments helping the Spartans to 276 total yards of offense in a 38-19 win over Delaware State.
  • Grandin Wilcox (Norfolk State) was a perfect 5-for-5 on PAT attempts adding a 47-yard field goal in the Spartans’ 38-19 win over the Hornets.
  • Jaki Brevard (N.C. Central) tallied seven tackles, five solo, with one sack of 15 yards.
  • Ryan Stubblefield (South Carolina State) threw for 85 yards completing 7-of-11 passes with two touchdowns as well as running eight times for 30 yards with one TD.
  • John Hannibal (South Carolina State) registered eight tackles, five solo, with two sacks for nine yards.
  • Nick Taiste (South Carolina State) earned a 90 percent grade on his assignments with four pancake blocks as the Bulldogs amassed 430 total yards of offense.
