The Phoenix Suns are on a roll, aiming for their seventh consecutive win and their eighth in their first nine games as they head to Dallas to face the Mavericks on Friday.
Phoenix started their current surge with a 114-102 home win over Dallas on October 26, overcoming a season-high 40 points from Luka Doncic.
The Suns extended their winning streak to six games on Wednesday with a 115-112 victory over the visiting Miami Heat. Kevin Durant led the charge with 32 points and eight rebounds. Devin Booker added 22 points, and Jusuf Nurkic chipped in with 20 points and 18 rebounds, helping Phoenix secure the win in crunch time.
Durant is averaging 27.8 points per game, ranking seventh in the NBA. Booker follows closely with 24.4 points per game.
The Mavericks are looking to win back-to-back games for just the second time this season after defeating the Chicago Bulls 119-99 on Wednesday in Dallas. Luka Doncic led with 27 points and 13 assists, while Kyrie Irving and Daniel Gafford each scored 17 points.
Doncic is averaging 28.6 points per game this season, down from his league-leading 33.9 points last year.
The Mavericks have also been boosted by the addition of Klay Thompson, who is averaging 14.5 points per game and shooting 39.1 percent from three-point range as he integrates into the team.
The Mavericks recorded 33 assists on 45 field goals in their win over the Bulls, a shift from their usual isolation-heavy playstyle.
Mavericks center Dereck Lively will miss his third straight game due to a shoulder injury. Phoenix rookie standout Ryan Dunn’s status is uncertain after he sprained his left ankle during Wednesday’s win over Miami.
In their first meeting with Dallas this season, Durant led the Suns with 31 points, while Booker added 21 points. Nurkic contributed 18 points and 14 rebounds.
