ACMA Warns Offshore Companies over Regulatory Violations

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued warnings to three gambling service providers for regulatory violations, specifically contraventions of subsections 15(2A) and 15AA(3) of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (IGA).

Warnings were sent to the owners of Rooli, Lucky Block, and SlotCatalog, who allegedly offered unlicensed gambling to Australian players through local links, a serious breach of regulations prohibiting illegal offshore operators from targeting local customers.

Dama N.V. and Strukin Limited, owners of Rooli, received warnings for providing unlicensed gambling content in Australia without authorization, violating subsection 15(2A) of the IGA. Similarly, Lucky Block offered online gambling services to Australian consumers without a license, prompting a warning to its owner, Igloo Ventures, for violating subsections 15(2A) and 15AA(3) of the IGA. SlotCatalog’s representative, Fedir Havlovskyi, was also warned for facilitating access to unlicensed online casino platforms, violating the same subsections.

In other news, the ACMA recently received international recognition for BetStop, its national self-exclusion program. The International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) awarded the Regulatory Excellence Award to the ACMA for creating Australia’s first centralized self-exclusion register. This announcement came a week after Australia launched its first-ever review of the self-exclusion program.
