CONFERENCE NEWS & NOTES
• BYU, Iowa State and K-State give the Big 12 Conference three bowl-eligible teams after eight weeks with another four teams just one win away • BYU and Iowa State represent two of the remaining 10 undefeated FBS teams. The Cougars and Cyclones are tied for the nation’s third-longest winning streak at seven games. • According to ESPN’s FPI, BYU (fourth) and Iowa State (sixth) rank in the nation’s top 10 for strength of record with Kansas State sitting in 12th. • Big 12 programs are 24-7 this season when ranked in the AP Top 25. • The Conference’s quarterbacks have tallied four games of five touchdown passes, which leads all FBS conferences. • Big 12 defenses have intercepted 114 passes this season; the most of any conference in FBS. • Big 12 on-campus venues had capacity crowds in six of the seven games hosted in Week Eight. • Baylor’s 59 points on Saturday were the most by an FBS program in Week Eight and tied for the most in a conference game in a Power Four league this season. • KU’s Jalon Daniels was the nation’s leader in pass efficiency rating for the week and was joined in the top 10 by Sawyer Robertson (Baylor, No. 9) and Avery Johnson (K-State, No. 10) as the Big 12 was the only league with a trio of top-10 rated QB’s in Week Eight. • The Conference has five teams in the top 12 of Power Four in rushing yards per game; UCF (first), K-State (third), Kansas (fifth), Arizona State (ninth) and West Virginia (11th). • UCF’s RJ Harvey gave the Big 12 Conference another top rusher for the week after leading the FBS with 196 yards on the ground in Week Eight. • Colorado became the first Big 12 team to win consecutive conference road games by 27 or more points in a single season since 2015. • Iowa State’s Jontez Williams owns the longest active streak of games with an interception in FBS with four heading into Week Nine.
