American Southwest Conference football begins the fall season this weekend with three contests.


Week 1 Matchups

East Texas Baptist opens the season at home on Friday at 7:00 p.m. against LaGrange in Marshall.

Hardin-Simmons and Howard Payne face off in the first ASC matchup of the season on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in Brownwood.

Mary Hardin-Baylor travels to McKenzie, Tennessee on Saturday to compete against Bethel University (Tenn.) at 1:00 p.m.

PRESEASON BUZZ
 Hardin-Simmons University is predicted to repeat as the 2024 American Southwest Conference Champions. Hardin-Simmons won its first outright ASC title since 2004 last season and made their 12th NCAA appearance. The Cowboys come off a 9-2 overall record and was a perfect 6-0 in league play. Mary Hardin-Baylor notched the remaining three first place votes and was selected second with 26 points.

The league also released Players to Watch in 2024.

In the Polls | The Cowboys ranked 16th in both the AFCA Preseason Coaches Poll and the D3football.com Preseason Poll. The Cru received votes in both polls.

Dameon Gomes (HSU) and Durand Hill (UMHB) were selected to the D3football.com Preseason All-America Teams.
