The Pittsburgh Pirates placed designated hitter/outfielder Andrew McCutchen on the 10-day injured list with left knee inflammation.
Infielder Alika Williams has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.
The 25-year-old Williams was hitting .314 (32-for-102) with seven doubles, one triple and nine RBI in his last 25 games with Indianapolis dating back to the beginning of last month (his .314 average during that time ranked 11th in the International League).
Williams has also hit .210 (13-for-62) in 25 games this season as a member of the Pirates.
Williams will wear uniform No. 25.
In addition, left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki (left triceps inflammation) will begin a rehab assignment tonight with Indianapolis.
