OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s announced today that right-handed pitcher Will KIein, who was acquired from Kansas City yesterday, has joined the club and will be active for tonight’s game in San Francisco.

Klein was acquired from the Royals with minor league right-handed pitcher Mason Barnett and minor league outfielder Jared Dickey in exchange for right-handed pitcher Lucas Erceg. He made his Major League debut with Kansas City earlier this year and was 1-0 with a 6.35 ERA in five relief appearances. The 24-year-old right-hander has spent the balance of the season at Triple-A Omaha where he is 2-1 with nine saves, a 3.58 ERA and .604 opponents OPS in 34 relief appearances. Klein has 38 strikeouts in 37.2 innings but has also walked 27. He was the Royals fifth round selection in 2020 and is ranked as the 18th best prospect in the Kansas City farm system by MLB.com.
