Los Angeles Dodgers complete two roster transactions

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Ricky Vanasco and optioned right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller.

Vanasco, 25, returns for his second stint with the Dodgers. He made his Major League debut on April 15 against the Nationals, tossing two scoreless innings and striking out one. He has appeared in 23 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, posting an 0-2 record with a 3.63 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 22.1 innings. He has spent six seasons in the minor leagues, going a combined 10-16 with a 3.48 ERA and 304 strikeouts in 102 games (40 starts). He was originally acquired by the Dodgers on June 1, 2023 from the Texas Rangers in exchange for minor league pitcher Luis Vasquez.

Miller, 25, made the start last night, allowing nine runs on 10 hits in 4.0 innings. He missed 61 games with right shoulder inflammation and went 0-1 with 9.87 ERA in four starts since returning from the IL. On the season with the big club, he is 1-2 record with a 8.07 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 29.0 innings. He is in his second season with the Dodgers, and he is a combined 12-6 with a 4.58 ERA with 146 strikeouts in 153.1 innings in 29 Major League starts. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the first round (29th overall) of the 2020 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Louisville.
