Club recalls left-handed pitcher Cam Booser from Triple-A Worcester
BOSTON, MA— The Boston Red Sox today placed right-handed pitcher Chris Martin on the 15-Day Injured List, retroactive to July 4, with right elbow inflammation. To fill his spot on the active roster, the club recalled left-handed pitcher Cam Booser from Triple-A Worcester.
Martin, 38, tossed 1.0 scoreless inning on July 3 against the Miami Marlins, allowing one hit with one strikeout. The right-hander has pitched in 26 games this season, posting a 3.42 ERA (10 ER/26.1 IP) with 29 strikeouts. Originally selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 21st round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native owns a 3.37 ERA (123 ER/328.2 IP) in 350 career games with the Rockies (2014), New York Yankees (2015), Texas Rangers (2018-19), Atlanta Braves (2019-21), Chicago Cubs (2022), Los Angeles Dodgers (2022), and Red Sox (2023-24).
Booser, 32, has posted a 3.21 ERA (10 ER/28.0 IP) with 33 strikeouts in 26 games this season, his Major League debut. The left-hander has also pitched in six games with Worcester, allowing seven runs in 9.0 innings while striking out 18 batters. The Washington native was signed by Boston as a minor league free agent on February 6, 2023.
