Twins Return Royce Lewis From Rehab Assignment, Reinstate From 10-Day IL

Edouard Julien optioned to Triple-A St. Paul

NEW YORK, NY – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have reinstated infielder Royce Lewis from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 10-day Injured List.

Lewis, who turns 25 tomorrow, played in six games on rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul from May 25-June 2, going 4-for-23 (.174) with one double, one walk, one stolen base and three runs scored for the Saints. He has missed the club’s last 58 games with a right quad strain. Lewis sustained the injury while running the bases in the third inning of the season opener on March 28 in Kansas City, after going 2-for-2 with a home run and a single. Lewis has played in 71 career major league regular season games, hitting .313 (81-for-259) with 11 doubles, 18 home runs, 58 RBI, 42 runs scored and a .933 OPS.

Lewis takes the vacated 26-man roster spot left by infielder Edouard Julien, who was optioned to St. Paul after Sunday afternoon’s game. Julien played in 58 games this season, hitting .207 (35-for-169) with six doubles, seven home runs, 17 RBI, 24 runs scored, 24 walks and 66 strikeouts.
