Houston, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following roster moves prior to Saturday afternoon’s game against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park:
- Left-handed pitcher Brock Burke placed on 15-day Injured List with a right hand fracture.
- Right-handed pitcher Austin Pruitt (#49) contract selected from Round Rock (AAA).
- Infielder Justin Foscue transferred from 10-day Injured List to 60-day Injured List with a left oblique strain.
Burke has no record over 5 relief appearances this season, allowing 5 runs/earned runs over 3.0 innings of work. He pitched in the 7th inning of last night’s Texas win: 0.2 IP, 3 H, 4 R-ER.
The 34-year-old Pruitt will be seeking his Rangers debut. He began the year with Triple-A Round Rock, going 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA (2 ER/4.2 IP) over 4 relief appearances for the Express. He last pitched in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Wednesday vs. Oklahoma City, earning a relief win: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R-ER, 1 BB, 0 SO, 29 pitches/18 strikes. He went 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA (4 ER/8.0 IP) over 7 relief outings with the Rangers during Spring Training as a non-roster invitee.
Pruitt was born in Plano and graduated from College Park High School in The Woodlands before playing collegiately at Navarro Junior College in Corsicana and the University of Houston. He has seen Major League action in each of the last three and six of the past seven seasons, going 14-16 with 6 saves and a 4.43 ERA (153 ER/310.2 IP) over 150 games/17 starts in his MLB career with Tampa Bay (2017-19), Houston (2021), Miami (2021), and Oakland (2022-23). Pruitt was originally selected by the Rays in the 9th round of the 2013 MLB Draft.
Foscue suffered his oblique injury during the at-bat in which he recorded his first Major League hit on Sunday vs. Houston. He was placed on the 10-day Injured List on Monday.
With today’s transactions, Texas remains at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with five players (Carson Coleman, Jacob deGrom, Justin Foscue, Josh Jung, and Tyler Mahle) on the 60-day Injured List.
