Dodgers trade Manuel Margot

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded outfielder Manuel Margot, minor league infielder Rayne Doncon and cash considerations to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for minor league infielder Noah Miller.

Miller, 21, hit .223 with eight homers and 60 RBI for High-A Cedar Rapids last season in the Twins organization. He named a Minor League Rawlings Gold Glove winner in 2023 at shortstop after recording a .984 fielding percentage with 295 assists and 54 double plays. The defensive wizard has been with the Twins parts of three seasons, hitting a combined .220 with 12 homers and 98 RBI in 250 minor league games. The infielder was originally drafted by the Twins with the 36th overall pick of the 2021 First Year Player Draft out of Ozaukee High School (WI).

Margot, 28, was acquired on December 16, 2023 along with Tyler Glasnow from Tampa Bay Rays. He played in two Spring Training games, going 0-for-6 with one strikeout. Last season, he appeared in 99 games for the Rays, slashing .264/.310/.376 with four homers and 38 RBI. He finished his fourth season with Tampa Bay, starting in a total of 360 games and recording 66 doubles, six triples, 19 homers and 153 RBI while posting a .984 fielding percentage. He began his career with the San Diego Padres in 2021, playing four seasons with the Friars and hitting .248 with 33 homers and 130 RBI in 428 games. He originally signed with the Boston Red Sox as a minor league free agent on July 2, 2011 from San Cristobal, Dominican Republic.

Doncon, 20, hit 20 homers and drove in 52 runners in 107 games for Low-A Rancho Cucamonga in 2023. He spent three seasons with the Dodgers organization, hitting .237 with 29 homers and 113 RBI in 200 games. He was originally signed by the Dodgers as an international free agent on January 15, 2021 out of San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic.
