Notes:

  • Boston College leads the all-time series, 25-13, having last met in 2013. The Eagles hold a narrow advantage over the Black Knights, 13-11, in games played at West Point.
  • The series started in 1917 with a 14-7 Army win at West Point. The Eagles last won at Army in 2000, 55-17.
  • Boston College started the season 1-3 for the second consecutive year and the fifth time since 2011. The Eagles last rallied from 1-3 to reach a bowl game in 2017.
  • Army is 2-2 on the season and coming off an open week. The Black Knights are playing their second straight ACC foe, having fallen at Syracuse 29-16 on Sept. 23.
  • BC quarterback Thomas Castellanos ranks 26th in the country with 78 points responsible for. He has accounted for 13 total touchdowns, including 10 through the air and three on the ground.

Notes:

  • Virginia will wrap up its non-conference slate versus instate foe William & Mary.
  • The Cavaliers have lost three games by a field goal or less this season, including each of their last two games (24-21 vs. NC State and 27-24 at Boston College).
  • UVA has lost eight straight games dating back to last season, its longest losing skid since 2013 (final nine games). UVA is 0-5 for the first time since 1982, the first year of Hall of Fame coach George Welsh’s tenure at Virginia.
  • William & Mary is 4-1 on the season and ranked No. 10 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll.
  • W&M head coach Mike London returns to Charlottesville for the third time (2019 and 2021) as the coach of the Tribe, having been the coach at UVA from 2010-15. He is 0-3 versus the Cavaliers all time.
  • Both teams are coming off losses and looking to get back in the win column this Saturday.

Notes:

  • NC State is a perfect 5-0 all-time versus the Marshall Thundering Herd all time, with four of those five wins coming in Raleigh, North Carolina.
  • Despite a 13-10 home loss to Louisville last weekend, NC State has won 17 of its last 20 games at home in CarterFinley Stadium.
  • However, it will not be an easy task, as Marshall enters the game as one of 22 remaining undefeated teams in FBS this season at 4-0, including a home win over Virginia Tech (24-17) two weeks ago.
  • NC State sophomore quarterback MJ Morris is slated to get the starting nod versus Marshall – the third start of his young career. Last season, he became the first freshman quarterback since Philip Rivers in 2000 to start at quarterback for the Wolfpack.

Notes:

  • The two teams last met in 2020, a 31-6 win by the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. However, two of the past three meetings have been decided in overtime.
  • North Carolina, who is 14th in the AP poll this week, is 54-22 overall as a ranked team in 15 seasons under head coach Mack Brown.
  • Through four games this season, North Carolina is averaging 35.8 points per game.
  • Syracuse, who got off to a 4-0 start for the second consecutive year, is looking to avoid a 0-2 start in ACC play, having suffered a loss to Clemson at home last week.
  • Syracuse’s next three games are on the road, the first three-game stretch of true road games since the 1996 season. The trip will include a 34-day stretch without a home game played in the JMA Dome, which is the third-longest in college football this season.
  • The Orange are one of two ACC teams and six teams in all of FBS to rank in the top 25 in both total defense (19th, 297.2 ypg) and total offense (25th, 462.4 ypg).

Notes:

  • Both Florida State and Virginia Tech enter Saturday’s contest undefeated in ACC play.
  • Florida State returns to action after an open date last week following its 31-24 win at Clemson. The victory snapped the Tigers’ 25-game home winning streak against ACC opponents and improved the Seminoles to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the ACC.
  • Florida State is No. 5 in this week’s Associated Press poll. It is the fifth consecutive week FSU has been ranked in the top five, the program’s longest streak since 2013-14 when they were in the top five for 27 straight weeks.
  • VT is coming off a 38-21 home win over Pitt in the Hokies ACC opener last Saturday.
  • The Hokies defense held Pitt to just 38 rushing yards last time out, while the offense amassed over 400 yards of total offense in the win.

Notes:

  • Clemson and Wake Forest will look to live up to the double-overtime thriller last season that saw the two teams combine for 96 points.
  • Clemson is in search of its 15th straight win against Wake Forest. Clemson’s last loss to the Demon Deacons came on Oct. 9, 2008, a defeat that led to the elevation of Dabo Swinney to head coach four days later.
  • A Clemson victory would pull Dabo Swinney even with College Football Hall of Famer Frank Howard as Clemson’s all-time winningest head coach with 165 wins. Howard coached 295 career games at Clemson and won his 165th game in his 292nd career game. Swinney can accomplish the feat in his 206th career game with a win.
  • Wake Forest is coming off an open week after a home loss to Georgia Tech two weeks ago in its ACC opener.
  • Since the start of the 2021 season, the Deacs have claimed 22 victories, and their 22-9 record is the ninth-best mark in all of Power-5 in the last three seasons.
  • Since the start of the 2016 season, the Deacs have the second-most wins in the ACC (52), not counting the COVID-shortened 2020 season, behind only Clemson (79).

Notes:

  • Louisville moved to 5-0 for the first time since 2013.
  • Louisville’s 3-0 conference record is the best since 2012, when the Cards were members of the Big East Conference and marks their first 3-0 start in the ACC in school history.
  • Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm is the second UofL head football coach to begin his coaching stint with a 5-0 record, joining Tom King, who won his first 10 games coaching the Cardinals in 1925 and 1926.
  • The Cardinals bring a seven-game home winning streak into Saturday’s game versus the Fighting Irish.
  • Notre Dame’s 21-14 win over Duke last Saturday extended the Irish’s regular-season win streak against the ACC to 30 consecutive wins.
  • The two quarterbacks (Jack Plummer of Louisville and Sam Hartman of ND) have combined to throw 25 touchdown passes and 2,864 passing yards this year.

Notes:

  • The last three meetings between Georgia Tech and Miami at Hard Rock Stadium have been decided by just one score – one point (25-24 Miami win in 2017), seven points (28-21 GT overtime win in 2019), and three points (33-30 Miami win in 2021).
  • The Yellow Jackets are in search of their third-straight win over a nationally ranked ACC opponent on the road. Last season, Georgia Tech went 2-0 against ranked ACC teams on the road, winning 26-21 at No. 24 Pitt (Oct. 1)and 21-17 at No. 13/11 North Carolina (Nov. 19).
  • Georgia Tech continues to boast one of the nation’s top offenses, ranking 19th nationally in total offense at 467.4 yards per game.
  • Miami is 4-0 this season and playing its first ACC game of the year following an open week.
  • The Hurricanes lead the ACC in scoring offense (43.8 ppg) and are second in scoring defense (12.5 ppg), which both rank in the top 12 nationally.
