* Logan Stankoven scored the NHL’s 15th natural hat trick on record involving an even-strength, power-play and shorthanded goal as the reigning-champion Hurricanes continued their high-scoring start to the season.
* More stars across the League put up high-scoring performances in wins, including David Pastrnak, Mikko Rantanen, Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon.
* The Jets look to push their season-opening point streak to five games when they face the Ducks on Sportsnet to cap a four-game Friday slate.

HURRICANES, AVALANCHE SCORE SEVEN GOALS APIECE
Logan Stankoven scored a shorthanded, power-play and even-strength goal in consecutive fashion to record his first career hat trick and help the reigning-champion Hurricanes clip the Canucks 7-2, while Cale Makar (1-2—3) and Nathan MacKinnon (1-2—3) drove Colorado’s offense in its 7-3 win.
* Stankoven became the fourth player in franchise history with an even-strength, power-play and shorthanded goal at any point in a game. He joined Sebastian Aho (Dec. 7 & Jan. 13, 2019), Erik Cole (Nov. 23, 2002) and Sandis Ozolinsh (March 4, 2001).
* Sean Walker assisted on all three of Stankoven’s goals and one by K’Andre Miller to record a career-high four points. The only defenseman in club history with more assists in a game is Hartford Whalers blueliner Mark Howe (5 on Jan. 30, 1980).
* Makar, who was facing his hometown Flames, and MacKinnon improved to 23-1-0 (.958 P%) in games when they each post at least three points as they kept Colorado’s offense humming to start the season. The only pair of current teammates with a better points percentage in that scenario are Edmonton’s Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl (1.000, 52-0-0), McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (1.000; 22-0-0) as well as Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point (.978; 22-0-1).
* The Avalanche’s 23 goals in 2026-27 are the most by any team through their first four games of a campaign since the 1993-94 Kings (24). They reached that total after their League-leading third game with six-plus goals this season – the club was tied for the second most in 2025-26 (13 GP).

PASTRNAK, RANTANEN ALSO POST FOUR POINTS IN DECISIVE WINS
David Pastrnak (2-2—4) scored his first goals as Bruins captain in a four-point night, while Mikko Rantanen (1-3—4) factored on all four Stars goals as both stars continued the early trend of four-point performances to begin 2026-27.
* The Bruins offense saw 11 different players record multiple points within the first 30 minutes of action, a feat the team last achieved on March 1, 2018 (11). Pastrnak’s second goal of the night tied him with former captain, Brad Marchand (422), for fourth on the franchise’s all-time goals list, while his final point of the night put him past Adam Oates (18) for the eighth-most four-point games in Bruins history.
* Rantanen recorded his 26th career four-point game and has now factored on five straight Dallas goals dating to Oct. 5. He can become the first Stars player to factor on six straight since Joe Pavelski (Jan. 9-12, 2022). Backstopping Dallas to its 4-0 win was Jake Oettinger, who became the first goaltender with multiple shutouts this season by doing so in consecutive games.
SENATORS SURVIVE CLOSE GAME TO CONTINUE SUCCESS IN HOME OPENERS
The Flyers netted a game-tying goal in the second period before Carter Yakemchuk scored his first career game-winning goal to help the Senators win three of their first four games of a season for the third time in the past decade (also 3-1-0 in 2023-24 & 2016-17). Ottawa’s .676 winning percentage in home openers is among the highest for active franchises.

VEGAS’ THREE-GOAL COMEBACK, SOROKIN’S SHUTOUT STREAK IN LIVE UPDATES

* Bo Horvat (2-0—2) bookended the contest with a pair of goals to extend his season-opening point streak to four games and Ilya Sorokin saw his shutout sequence come to an end with 2:34 remaining in regulation as the Islanders improved to 2-0-0 at UBS Arena this season. Sorokin’s home shutout sequence of 117:26 was the longest to start a campaign in Islanders history.

JETS LOOK TO CONTINUE STREAKING START ON SPORTSNET
The Jets (3-0-1, 7 points) are just 16 days from hosting the Canadiens at the 2026 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic on Oct. 25 at Princess Auto Stadium and will look to build on the momentum of a strong start when they host the Ducks (2-1-0, 4 points) tonight on Sportsnet.
