* The Kraken scored six goals in a game for the second time in 2026-27 and helped make it the first season in the past 30 years to feature 12 instances of a team scoring six-plus goals in a game at this stage of a campaign.
* The Ducks and Jets both had their stars post three-point games in tight one-goal victories Sunday, with the former matching the mark for most consecutive wins in home openers in NHL history.
* The debut of Monday Night Hockey on Sportsnet+ will see the Senators visit the Bruins and the Jets visit the Penguins.
KRAKEN CONVERT SIX AGAIN, CONTINUE HIGH-SCORING TREND IN 2026-27
Mackie Samoskevich (2-0—2) led the scoring for Seattle and Vince Dunn (0-1—1) made it six straight years with a point in a Kraken home opener as they helped their club skate to its second 6-1 win over the Flames this season. The Kraken’s 13 goals in 2026-27 are their most through three games of a campaign, besting their mark of 10 from 2022-23. Seattle is now one of four teams to have multiple six-goal showings this season, joining the Avalanche, Canucks and Penguins (all w/ 2).
* Samoskevich matched Brandon Tanev (2 GP) for the second-fewest games in Kraken history to record a multi-goal game with the franchise. Bobby McMann is the only Seattle player to score multiple goals in his team debut.
* Dunn became the second player in NHL history to record a point in each of a franchise’s first six or more home openers, joining Wayne Gretzky (9 GP from 1979-80 – 1987-88 w/ EDM).
GAUTHIER, CARLSSON HELP DUCKS REMAIN PERFECT TO START SEASON
After Cutter Gauthier (2-1—3) and Leo Carlsson (0-3—3) gave Anaheim a 2-1 lead, Brad Marchand (1-0—1) pulled the Panthers even in the final two minutes of regulation, but the Ducks duo combined once more on Mikael Granlund’s overtime goal to lift their club to its second straight victory of the season and their first at Honda Center.
* Gauthier and Carlsson both factored on Anaheim’s game-winning goal for the second straight game to start the season. Only one other player in Ducks history has achieved that feat: Corey Perry (2 GP in 2012-13).
* Carlsson became the fifth Ducks player to record multiple points in each of the team’s first two games of a season (1-4—5). He also became the third player in franchise history to register five points through the club’s first two contests of a campaign, following Saku Koivu (1-4—5) and Daniel Winnik (4-1—5) who both did so in 2012-13.
JETS DUO WERE DIALED IN FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
Kyle Connor (2-1—3) and Cole Perfetti (1-2—3) combined on all three Winnipeg goals as the Jets earned their first win of the season. The duo became the second set of Jets teammates to each collect three points in a road opener following Dale Hawerchuk (0-3—3), Paul MacLean (0-3—3) and Brian Mullen (2-1—3) on Oct. 9, 1982.
* Following the consolidation of Jets’ history, Connor – who has factored on five consecutive team goals – found himself associated with franchise icon Thomas Steen through various accomplishments Sunday afternoon. His 74th and 75th career power-play goals passed Steen (73) for the fifth most in Jets franchise history and his 56th career three-point game tied the former captain for the third most in franchise history.

EICHEL, SHESTERKIN FEATURED IN #NHLSTATS: LIVE UPDATES
The Sunday edition of #NHLStats: Live Updates featured Jack Eichel (0-1—1) and the Golden Knights extending their win streak against the Canucks to eight games (dating to Dec. 19, 2024) and Igor Shesterkin (0-1—1) finding the score sheet again as the Rangers won their first two home games of a season for the third time in the past 15 years, following 2022-23 (2 GP) and 2016-17 (2 GP). Shesterkin became the first goaltender to record a point in consecutive games since Connor Ingram (0-2—2 from Feb. 6-9, 2025).

MONDAY NIGHT HOCKEY DEBUTS ON SPORTSNET+
The debut of Monday Night Hockey on Sportsnet+ will begin with a showdown between two Atlantic Division foes who made the playoffs last season and close with a matchup between Mark Scheifele and the Jets (1-0-1) and Sidney Crosby and the perfect Penguins (2-0-0).

* Forward Kyle Connor leads the Jets with 3-2—5 this season thanks to back-to-back multi-point showings. Connor can join Scheifele (3 GP in 2024-25) as the second player in Jets franchise history to begin a season with multiple points in each of the team’s first three games.
* Crosby and his Penguins have benefited from an offensive surge to start 2026-27 and can become the fourth team in NHL history with six or more goals in each of their first three games of a season, following the Kings (4 GP in 1988-89), Canadiens (3 GP in 1975-76) and Arenas (3 GP in 1917-18). The longtime Pittsburgh icon now needs just two assists to tie Ray Bourque (1,111 w/ BOS) for the most with a single franchise in NHL history.
* The Senators will be the last team to play their second game as they look to build on their Battle of Ontario victory with a second straight win against a divisional opponent. Ottawa will seek its first 2-0-0 start in a decade (2-0-0 in 2016-17).
NOTABLE GAMES ON THE RADAR THIS WEEK
Five #NHLStats and storylines you need to know about other significant matchups this week:
1. Islanders at Rangers on ESPN and Sportsnet+ (Tuesday): The two youngest defensemen in the NHL, reigning Calder Trophy winner Matthew Schaefer and 2026 No. 5 pick Alberts Smits, will give a new look to the first “Battle of New York” of the season. Schaefer (23-38—61 in 84 GP) needs one goal to tie Bobby Orr for the second most by a teenage defenseman in NHL history, behind Phil Housley (46).
2. Penguins at Capitals on TNT, HBO MAX (Wednesday): Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin will meet for the 101st time in their longstanding rivalry (regular season & playoffs). The stars have clashed more than any No. 1 picks in League history and more than any players who currently occupy a top 10 spot on the all-time points list.

3. Avalanche at Jets on Prime (Wednesday): The second Wednesday Night Hockey on Prime features a pair of Central Division rivals when Nathan MacKinnon and the Avalanche visit Mark Scheifele and the Jets. MacKinnon can start a season with multiple points in three straight games and tie the longest streak in team history – a distinction he already accomplished in 2022-23 and shares with Valeri Kamensky (3 GP in 1995-96).
4. Maple Leafs at Avalanche on Sportsnet (Saturday): Four first-overall picks, including Auston Matthews (TOR), John Tavares (TOR), Gavin McKenna (TOR) and Nathan MacKinnon (COL), share the ice in a talent-rich matchup. The game also features a unique generational contrast between 41-year-old Brent Burns and 18-year-old McKenna, who was five years old when Burns began his consecutive games played streak.
5. Oilers at Sharks on Sportsnet (Saturday): Two of hockey’s most exciting players share the spotlight when Connor McDavid and Macklin Celebrini meet in San Jose. The former Olympic teammates and friends could suit up once again with Canada at the 2027 Honda NHL All-Star Game (Feb. 5-6, 2027).
