LONDON – The U.K. Gambling Commission has suspended the remote operating license of Targetlocal Ltd, the company behind Ken Howell’s Sports Betting and the website kenhowells.com, after identifying anti‑money‑laundering failures during regulatory inquiries.
The suspension, issued immediately, covers Targetlocal’s online casino, sports betting and virtual event betting operations under license number 000422‑R‑336567‑002. The Commission said it has opened a formal review under Section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005, and the license will remain suspended until the regulator determines the business is fully compliant.
Officials instructed the operator to ensure customers are treated fairly throughout the suspension period and to keep them informed of any developments affecting their accounts. The Commission emphasized that the suspension does not prevent customers from accessing their accounts or withdrawing funds, and Targetlocal remains reachable through its website.
The action does not affect the company’s non‑remote general betting standard license, which allows certain offline betting activities to continue.
