LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated left-handed pitcher Kris Bubic from the injured list and optioned right-handed pitcher Paul Gervase to Triple-A Oklahoma City. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated outfielder Ryan Ward for assignment.
Bubic, 29, was acquired on August 3 from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for right-handed pitcher Carlos Duran. He appeared in six minor league games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. Prior to joining the Dodgers, he made nine appearances for the Royals, going 3-2 with a 4.11 ERA. He has been in the Majors seven seasons, all with the Royals, notching a 22-38 mark with a 4.14 ERA and 495 strikeouts in 522 innings. He was an All-Star in 2025, going 8-7 with a 2.55 ERA in 20 games. He was drafted by the Royals in the first round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of Stanford University.
Gervase, 26, was recalled on Monday but did not appear in a game. He has made four appearances for Los Angeles this season, firing 7.2 innings with eight strikeouts and a 2.35 ERA. In 38 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City this year, he is 3-1 with a 4.56 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 47.1 innings. He has appeared in 10 Major League games in his career, posting a 3.38 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 16.0 innings. The 6-foot, 10-inch hurler was drafted by the New York Mets in the 12th round of the 2022 First Year Player Draft out of Louisiana State University.
