Hungary international owns 70 goals and 37 assists across 180 MLS appearances

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution have signed veteran MLS midfielder Dániel Gazdag as a free agent through December 2027, with additional club options through the 2028-29 MLS season. The Hungary international, who is the leading scorer in Philadelphia Union history, is a U.S Green Card-holder and will not occupy an international roster slot for New England.

Gazdag first arrived in MLS in 2021 and spent parts of five seasons with the Philadelphia Union, before moving to Columbus in April 2025. Including the MLS Cup Playoffs, the MLS veteran owns 70 goals and 37 assists in 180 appearances. With Philadelphia from 2021-2025, Gazdag scored 59 regular season goals and 72 all-competition tallies, both the most in Union club history. Over the last two seasons with the Crew, Gazdag has scored nine goals along with five assists in all competitions. In 2026, the Hungarian has netted five goals in 22 total appearances in MLS, Leagues Cup, and U.S. Open Cup.

A prolific goalscorer for the Union, Gazdag set a career high with 22 goals, along with 10 assists, in 2022, helping Philadelphia win the Eastern Conference championship. Gazdag added 14 goals and a career-best 12 assists in 2023, before another 17-goal campaign in 2024. The attacking midfielder has appeared in 12 career MLS Cup Playoff matches, starting nine times with four goals scored. Gazdag has been lethal on penalty kicks in his MLS career, scoring 27 times from the spot, tied for third most in MLS history.

“We are excited to add a player with the caliber and experience of Dániel Gazdag to New England.” said Chris Tierney, the Revolution’s General Manager and Chief Soccer Officer. “Dániel has proven over several years that he is one of our league’s premier goal-scoring midfielders, and his versatility and quality on the ball will add another critical piece to our attack.”

A native of Nyíregyháza, Hungary, Gazdag began his career in the domestic top flight with Kispest Honvéd FC, logging 63 goal contributions over 200 appearances before departing for MLS. With Honvéd, he won the Hungarian league title in 2016-17 and claimed the Hungarian Cup trophy in 2020. Gazdag has featured internationally for Hungary at both the youth and senior levels. He has tallied four goals in 30 caps for the Hungary Men’s National Team, including appearances in UEFA Nations League and the 2024 UEFA European Championship. Before his senior debut, Gazdag recorded an additional 30 international appearances at the youth levels.

The Revolution continue their stretch of four consecutive road games this weekend, visiting LA Galaxy for a 9:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park. Watch Saturday’s match on Apple TV in English and Spanish. Tune in to the club’s local radio calls on 98.5 The Sports Hub or 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA.
