The 26-year-old prospect (acquired from the White Sox at the trade deadline) is making just his second major-league start after a solid debut against Washington (4 IP, 1 ER, 5 K). He features a low-90s fastball with ride/sink, a curveball, and other secondary pitches from a low arm slot. He is still limited in pitch count and experience.
Braves: RHP Tyler Mahle (5-10, 4.41 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 112 K in 118.1 IP)
Mahle was acquired from the Giants at the deadline and has been excellent since joining Atlanta (2-1, 1.52 ERA in four starts). He throws strikes, mixes a split-finger and cutter effectively, and has career success against Colorado. He gives the Braves a clear edge.
