Junis has registered a 2.70 ERA in 36 appearances for Texas this season
West Sacramento, Calif. — The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions prior to Saturday night’s game against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park:
- Right-handed pitcher Jakob Junis activated from 15-day Injured List
- Left-handed pitcher Marco Gonzales designated for assignment
Junis, 33, has missed the Rangers’ last 15 games since being placed on the 15-day Injured List on July 30 (retroactive to July 29). He did not make any minor league injury rehab appearances. Texas is 28-8 when Junis appears this year, with the right-hander owning a 1-1 record with 5 saves, a team-high 14 holds, a 2.70 ERA (12 ER/40.0 IP), and 30 strikeouts against 7 walks in 36 games (one start). He has held right-handed bats to a .192 (15-78) clip in 2026. The 10-year Major League veteran has posted a 3.14 ERA (5 ER/14.1 IP) in his last 7 games vs. the Athletics since the start of the 2022 season.
Gonzales, 34, was selected from Triple-A Round Rock yesterday and appeared in last night’s games vs. the Athletics, recording a one-pitch double play grounder in the 8th. The left-hander made 3 relief appearances over 2 stints with the Rangers since his 2026 debut on July 21, posting no record with one save and a 1.35 ERA (1 ER/6.2 IP). The Rangers have seven days to trade, release, or outright Gonzales to the minor leagues.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers have 39 players on the club’s Major League roster, along with seven players on the 60-day Injured List (RHP’s Carter Baumler, Jose Corniell, and Jack Leiter, LHP’s Jalen Beeks and Robert Garcia, INF/OF Michael Helman, and C Danny Jansen).
