Kelenic is entering his second stint with the Rangers in 2026
Anaheim, Calif. — The Texas Rangers announced the following transactions prior to tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium:
- Outfielder Jarred Kelenic (#25) contract selected from Triple-A Round Rock
- Infielder Jonah Bride designated for assignment
- Catcher Danny Jansen sent to Triple-A Round Rock on injury rehab assignment
Kelenic (‘KELL-nick’) is embarking on his second stint with the Rangers after appearing in 7 games for the club from June 19-28, going 1-for-8 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored before being designated for assignment on June 29. He was twice re-signed to a minor league contract on July 3 and July 29 and has batted .373 (53-142) with 7 home runs, 4 triples, 11 doubles, and 24 RBI in 37 total games for Triple-A Round Rock this season. Since his first game for the Express on June 3, Kelenic leads Pacific Coast League qualifiers in batting average and on-base percentage (.447), while also ranking highly in slugging percentage (3rd, .655), OPS (3rd, 1.102), runs scored (4th, 43), and triples (T5th).
The 27-year-old opened the campaign in the Chicago White Sox organization, signing a minor league contract with the club in January and having his contract selected on April 29. Kelenic logged 19 games for the Pale Hose before being designated for assignment on May 25 and electing free agency on May 30. Originally selected in the first round (6th overall) of the 2018 MLB Draft by New York-NL out of Waukesha West (Wis.) High School, Kelenic has seen big-league action in each of the last six years, appearing in 433 games for the Mariners (2021-23), Braves (2024-25), White Sox (2026), and Rangers (2026). He has seen action at all three outfield spots in the Majors, primarily in leftfield (179 games) and centerfield (159).
Bride, 30, started each of Texas’ last 2 games at third base after having his contract selected prior to Sunday’s game, going 1-for-5 with a single, walk, and 2 strikeouts. The Rangers have seven days to trade, release, or outright Bride to the minor leagues.
Jansen, 31, has missed the Rangers’ last 58 games since being placed on the Injured List on June 6 (retroactive to June 3) with a right forearm strain. He was transferred to the 60-day Injured List on August 2. In 41 games for the Rangers this season, Jansen has batted .171 (21-123) with 3 home runs and 12 RBI.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with seven players on the 60-day Injured List (RHP’s Carter Baumler, Jose Corniell, and Jack Leiter, LHP’s Jalen Beeks and Robert Garcia, INF/OF Michael Helman, and C Danny Jansen).
