SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners bolstered their bullpen Friday, recalling right‑hander Nick Davila from Triple‑A Tacoma while placing right‑hander Cole Wilcox on the 15‑day injured list with a left oblique strain. The moves were announced by Executive Vice President and General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander ahead of Seattle’s weekend series.
Davila, 27, returns to the Major League roster less than two weeks after being optioned on July 26. The right‑hander has been a steady contributor for Seattle this season, posting a 3.57 ERA across 22⅔ innings with nine strikeouts and one save in 20 appearances. His first career save came June 9 in Baltimore.
Signed by Detroit as an undrafted free agent in 2020, Davila joined the Mariners on a minor‑league deal in March 2023. Over six minor‑league seasons with the Tigers and Mariners organizations, he has compiled an 18–30 record and a 4.94 ERA with 345 strikeouts in 129 games, including 42 starts. Davila also appeared in seven Cactus League games this spring after receiving an invitation to Major League camp.
A native of Hialeah, Florida, Davila played collegiately at the University of South Florida following a transfer from Hillsborough Community College.
Wilcox, 27, heads to the injured list after making 23 relief appearances for Seattle this season. The right‑hander has posted a 4.00 ERA with 28 strikeouts and 17 walks across 27 innings.
Acquired from Tampa Bay for cash considerations on Nov. 5, 2025, Wilcox made his Major League debut with the Rays on Sept. 19, 2025, throwing one inning of relief at Boston. He was originally selected by San Diego in the third round of the 2020 MLB Draft and later traded to Tampa Bay in the December 2020 deal that sent left‑hander Blake Snell to the Padres.
Following Friday’s transactions, Seattle’s Major League roster remains at 40 players, with six players currently on the 60‑day injured list.
