LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired catcher Hunter Feduccia and right-handed pitcher Jacob Kmatz from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for outfielder Jack Suwinski and international bonus pool money.
Feduccia, 29, rejoins the Dodgers after being traded last summer to the Rays. He appeared in 60 games for the Rays this year, batting .234 with two homers and 12 RBI. He has been in the Major Leagues parts of three seasons with Los Angeles (2024-25) and Tampa Bay (2025-26), batting .207 with two homers and 21 RBI. In seven minor league seasons, he is a .271 hitter with 55 homers and 308 RBI. He was drafted by the Dodgers in the 12th round out of Louisiana State University in 2018.
Kmatz, 23, was 5-2 with a 2.89 ERA between High-A Bowling Green and Double-A Montgomery this season. He was currently with Montgomery, and he was 2-1 with a 3.65 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 24.2 innings. He has pitched in 56 minor league games (19 starts), going 9-11 with a 4.69 ERA and 154 strikeouts in 163.0 innings. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2024 First Year Player Draft out of Oregon State University.
Suwinski, 28, played 93 games for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets this year, hitting .291 with 21 homers and 72 RBI. He has been in the Major Leagues four seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2022-25), clubbing 57 homers with 148 RBI and a .694 OPS. He was acquired by the Dodgers off waivers on February 21 after being designated for assignment by the Pirates on February 16.
