RHP Nick Davila optioned to Triple-A Tacoma
ARLINGTON – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:
- Alex Hoppe, RHP, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
- Nick Davila, RHP, optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.
Hoppe (pronounced ‘hoppy’), 27, was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on June 27. Overall, he has a 6.38 ERA (17 ER, 24.0 IP) with 26 strikeouts and 10 walks in 21 relief appearances with the Mariners this season.
In 15 games in Triple-A Tacoma this season, Hoppe is 1-3 with a 2.65 ERA (5 ER, 17.0 IP), 12 walks, 20 strikeouts and 6 saves.
The right-hander was acquired by Seattle on Nov. 18, 2025 from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for minor league catcher Luke Heyman. Hoppe is originally from Davenport, Iowa and was selected by the Red Sox in the 6th round of the 2022 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Davila (DAH-vee-LAH), 27, was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on June 9. Since being recalled, he is 0-0 with a 5.14 ERA (8 ER, 14.0 IP) with 5 strikeouts and 1 save in 12 appearances for Seattle. Davila earned his first career save on June 9 at Baltimore.
Davila was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Detroit Tigers on July 7, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Mariners on March 27, 2023. He has appeared in 6 minor league seasons in the Tigers (2021-22) and Mariners (2023-c) organizations, going a combined 18-30 with a 3.94 ERA (155 ER, 353.2 IP), 105 walks and 341 strikeouts in 126 games (42 starts). Davila was invited to Major League Spring Training this year and appeared in 7 Cactus League games.

The 6-foot-3 right-hander is a Hialeah, Florida native. He played one season at the University of South Florida after transferring from Hillsborough Community College (Tampa, FL).
